Gutters & Downpipes

Gutters & Downpipes For Industrial / Commercial Buildings

A factory, warehouse, or large commercial unit can shed enormous volumes of rainwater from its roof during even a moderate downpour, and if the drainage system isn't up to the job, the consequences can be costly.

At Capel Cladding Ltd, we specialise in the supply and installation of industrial guttering and downpipe systems that are built to handle exactly these kinds of demands.

We work with robust materials and proven roofline systems, and we understand that getting the specification right from the outset saves our clients a significant amount of money in the long run.

Industrial Gutter Types

Unlike domestic guttering, industrial roof drainage tends to fall into one of three main categories, and choosing the right one depends on the roof layout, building profile, and the volume of water the system needs to manage.

Box Gutters

Box gutters are rectangular channels, typically fabricated from heavy-gauge steel or aluminium, that sit between roof slopes or run along boundary walls.

They're most commonly found on large-span roofs where water needs to be directed internally before being discharged through downpipes. Because they handle large volumes, correct sizing and regular maintenance are essential.

Trimline / Highline Gutters

Trimline and Highline gutters are pre-coated steel gutters designed to hang directly from the edge of box profile metal roof sheets (without the need for a traditional fascia board). They're a popular choice on modern industrial and commercial buildings where a clean, uncluttered roofline is important. As well as being practical, they give the building a neat, finished appearance.

External Industrial Gutters

External gutters run along the outer edges of a roof and are the most straightforward option in terms of access. Because they sit on the outside of the building, they're easier to inspect, clean, and repair when needed, making them a sensible long-term choice for sites where ongoing maintenance needs to be kept simple and cost-effective.

Downpipes

Downpipes on industrial buildings need to be sized and positioned correctly to keep pace with the gutters they serve. An undersized or poorly positioned downpipe is one of the most common causes of gutter overflow on commercial sites.

We assess the full system, not just the gutters in isolation, to make sure water is discharged efficiently and directed away from the building.
