Asbestos Roof Sheet Removal & Replacement
For commercial and industrial buildings still carrying asbestos cement roofing, safe and compliant removal is not something to leave to chance. At Capel Cladding Ltd, our operatives are fully trained in asbestos awareness and carry out every asbestos roof sheet removal in strict accordance with HSE guidelines and the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, making sure the process is handled safely, responsibly, and with minimal disruption to your site.
About Asbestos Roof Sheet Removal
Asbestos cement was widely used in commercial and industrial roofing throughout the 20th century. Over time, these sheets deteriorate and become brittle, increasing the risk of fibres becoming loose and airborne. When this happens, removal and replacement becomes a health and safety priority.
Asbestos cement roof sheeting (which typically contains chrysotile, or white asbestos) does not require a licensed contractor to remove, provided the correct control measures are in place and the sheets are carefully handled without being broken up.
A licensed asbestos contractor is only required for higher risk asbestos products such as amosite (brown) and crocidolite (blue) asbestos, which are more commonly associated with pipe lagging and insulation panels. That said, every project carries its own risks and should be individually assessed before any work begins.

Why Address Asbestos Roofing Promptly?
Asbestos can be present on the roof itself as corrugated sheeting, or on the walls as vertical cladding, and Capel Cladding Ltd are experienced in removing and replacing it in both locations. Once removed, the building can be re-roofed using a modern system appropriate to the structure, budget and specification.
Deteriorating asbestos cement roofing poses a genuine health risk, and as the sheets age and become more brittle, that risk increases. Beyond the health and safety obligations under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, there are strong practical reasons to act.
Modern replacement roofing systems deliver dramatically improved thermal performance, reducing energy costs and improving EPC ratings. They are also more durable, better weatherproofed and backed by long term manufacturer guarantees, making replacement a sound investment for any commercial or industrial property owner.
Addressing the problem sooner rather than later avoids the far greater cost and complexity of managing a failing, degrading roof.
